Oil spill sock — POS‑03S‑04

Containment first, absorption while it sits there. A flexible sorbent tube that bends around machine bases, doorways and drains — it stops the spill travelling, then takes the oil up out of it.

Inside the sock

How it is built

A sock is a sleeve with our own sorbent filling inside it — POS‑03S‑04. Tap a part to see what it does.

  • Outer sleeve — the flexible tube that holds the shape and lets the oil through
    • Bends around machine bases, doorways and drains — a pad cannot make that line
    • Holds the filling in place while it loads up
    • Tied ends — socks lay end to end to close a perimeter
    • 3″ diameter × 4′ long as standard, 12 per box
  • Sorbent filling — our own meltblown media, loose-filled inside the sleeve
    • Same oil-only polypropylene sorbent as the pads — made on our line, not bought in
    • Loose fill lets the sock squash into corners and still take up oil
    • Oleophilic and hydrophobic: takes the hydrocarbon, leaves the water
    • Absorbs while it contains — the perimeter is doing work the whole time

The filling is the same media we make for the pads — see the pad construction · Ask for a sample

What it is

A sock does a job a pad cannot: it makes a line. Laid end to end it rings a machine, blocks a doorway or fences off a floor drain, so a spreading spill stops where you put the sock instead of where the floor slopes.

It is the same oil-only meltblown sorbent, filled into a flexible tube — so while it is holding the perimeter it is also absorbing what reaches it, and it can be curved into whatever shape the equipment layout demands.

Packaging12 socks per box
Media100% virgin polypropylene sorbent
BehaviourOleophilic and hydrophobic — takes oil, repels water
Typical usePerimeter containment around machines and drains

Where it goes to work

  • Ringing machine bases and presses
  • Blocking floor drains and trenches
  • Doorways and containment thresholds
  • Around drums, totes and transfer points
  • Leak containment while repairs are scheduled
  • Spill-kit contents

How to use it

  1. Lay socks end to end to close the perimeter — overlap the ends at corners.
  2. Work from the downhill or drain side first so the spill stops travelling before you clean it.
  3. Use pads inside the ring to take up the pooled oil.
  4. Replace saturated socks and dispose of them in line with your local regulations.
